Competition Rules – Dressage 

Warminster Saddle Club Disclaimer

Neither the Ministry of Defence, Waterloo Lines, Warminster Saddle Club, The British Horse Society, Riding for the Disabled Association nor their agents will accept any liability whatsoever for any accident, injury, illness or loss which may occur to any person or their property whilst participating or visiting any event staged at the Saddle Club.

Rules and Conditions of Entry

The competition will be run in accordance with the Rules and Regulations as laid down by British Dressage. A copy of these Rules can be obtained from British Dressage on 02476 698830. Any queries please ask the Secretary.

The judges’ decision is final.

Hard hats conforming to PAS015 or VG1 must be worn when mounted. All competitors are advised to have their own third-party liability insurance as riding is a high-risk sport.

Only competitors may work in their horse/ponies prior to a class.

Bad language or excessive use of the whip will lead to disqualification.

No horse/pony under the age of 4 years may compete. No more than 2 tests per horse/pony.

All dogs MUST always be kept on leads. Always clear up after your dog. Please take all your rubbish home.

 All young children must be kept under control at all times and must not be allowed to play amongst the horses.

The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry, cancel the event, alter classes, times or any other published information.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, it is the competitor’s responsibility to seek confirmation as to the cancellation of any event.

Entries in person or over the phone will close on the Wednesday before the event at 4pm.

There will be no refunds or credits after the Thursday before the event.

Times will be posted on our Facebook page on the Friday before competition or phone 01985 213925 between 3pm and 4pm.

 

Winter League

Class 1 will run as Restricted and not open to those registered with BD

Class 2 will run as Open and Restricted. Please state your section on your entry otherwise you will automatically be entered in the Open section. This is not open to those registered with BD.

Restricted is for those who have not scored above 65% at that level at three or more competitions.  

Class 3 will run as Open and Restricted. The Open classes will be open to all including those registered with BD up to Prelim Gold, Novice Bronze and Elementary Bronze

 You may ride any tests in this class. Highest % wins. (if you ride 2 tests you pay the entry fee twice)

Restricted is for those who are not registered with BD

 

Rosettes will be awarded in each section based on the highest % of all the tests. Rosettes 1st – 6th in each section in each class.

If you are in a Restricted section in Class 1, 2 or 3 and you have been placed 1st to 3rd  twice, you must either enter the Open section or move up a class.

All classes are eligible for our Winter League Dressage Final.  

If you must move sections in Class 2, you will be able to take your points with you.

Points are awarded on placings as follows:

1st = 6 points, 2nd = 5 points, 3rd = 4 points, 4th = 3 points, 5th = 2 points, 6th = 1 point

All points carry forward to the final day but points on Championship Day will be doubled ie. instead of 6 points for first place we will award 12 points. The top 15 scorers in each class will qualify for the Championships.

Those riders and horses who have qualified for the Championship in March 2023 will be notified by email.

COMPETITION RULES – SHOW JUMPING

Rules and Conditions of Entry

Jumping Classes will be run as single phase under current BS club rules. These are unaffiliated competitions only. If your pony/horse are or have been affiliated in the last 3 years you may only enter the classes HC.

For ALL show jumping classes the correct whip must be carried. Please see BS Rule 102.9 for details. Whip must be no longer than 70cms and 2/5ths (contact area) must be padded

If you have won one of our overall league classes 2021/2022 you must move up to next level.

Totally Tack Class 5 Accumulator rules

There will be 10 fences ranging from 45cms to 85cms, they will be jumped as a normal course and increase in size as the course goes on

At the last fence you can either jump fence number 10 at 85cms OR the joker fence at 95cms

You get points for each fence – fence no 1 = 1 point, fence no 2= 2 points and so on.

Fence no.10 is worth 10 points but if you jump the joker fence its worth 25 points BUT if you knock down the joker fence, you’re deducted 25 points.

The rounds will be timed

The winner is the rider with most points, in the case of equal points your time will decide the winner.

Minimus CR & Class 1 may be led and will be judged separately but will not be in our Winter League Series

Our Show Jumping will run on our outdoor all-weather surface. The warm-up will be the indoor arena.

WINTER LEAGUE

You can join the Winter League at any time.

You may enter as many classes as you wish, (only 3 rounds per horse, per day) however each class will stand alone as far as points are concerned. You may compete on more than one pony/horse per class, but points will be awarded to the individual pony/horse rider.

Totally Tack Maxi Show Jumping

Any pony/horse and rider that has been placed 1st to 3rd three times are not allowed to compete in class 1 or 2. Each height will have its own league table and prizes. Rosettes are awarded 1st to 6th.   

All classes are eligible for our Winter League Show Jumping Final except Minimus CR and Class 1 assisted.

WARMINSTER SADDLE CLUB

RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

 

The organizer & landowner cannot accept any liability for damage, accident, injury or loss to horses, riders, spectators or personal property.

  • Jumping Classes will be run as single phase under current BS rules.
  • All dressage classes will be run under current British Dressage Rules and regulations.
  • Hard hats conforming to PAS 015 or VG1 must be worn.
  • No horse or pony under 4 years may enter any ridden class.
  • Objections must be made within 15 minutes of the alleged offence and must be accompanied by a fee of £10.00, which will be refunded if the objection is upheld.
  • Entry fees are not refundable or transferable after close of entries. Fees will be liable immediately for any telephone or emailed entry made before or after the closing date.
  • All bookings of Warminster Saddle Club, once confirmed are liable to a 50% cancellation fee if moved or cancelled within 7 days of the booking and are liable to full payment if cancelled or part-cancelled within 24 hours of the start time of the booking.
  • Warminster Saddle Club will not be held liable for any losses suffered from cancelled or amended bookings.
  • The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry.
  • Anyone abusing/galloping their horse/pony will be asked to leave.
  • The judge may disqualify any competitor for misuse of whips or spurs.
  • No lungeing.
  • All horses and ponies must proceed at walk through areas shared with pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Horses may be tied up outside the box/trailer and any hay/muck must be removed before leaving the Centre.
  • Keep horses/ponies and any persons from making contact with any paddocks with Warminster Saddle Club horses in them.
  • Please dispose of all litter in the bins provided. (including cigarette butts).
  • Photographers will be in attendance at some competitions and events. By entering, competitors consent to photographs being taken and used by Warminster Saddle Club for advertising purposes in print and online.
  • Competitors who disobey any judge or official’s decision could be refused entry to any, or all future events at Warminster Saddle Club.
  • Warminster Saddle Club reserves the right to cancel any class if there are insufficient entries.
