WSC aims to ensure the promotion of the efficiency of the Armed Forces of the Crown by the provision and support of equestrian courses, events and facilities for the efficiency and well-being of Service personnel.
The aim of all equitation courses run at WSC is to allow students to learn and improve riding and horse management skills and knowledge. Riding provides an excellent opportunity to improve core stability and physical fitness whilst allowing military personnel at all levels to demonstrate and practice the Army Core Values, in particular; Courage, Morale, Selfless Commitment and Respect for Others.
The Saddle Club aims to encourage equestrianism in the military and does so by offering a wide variety of our military courses that despite their name are also open to the public.
Accommodation is included in the price for Military Personnel, and the courses cater for all abilities:
Bespoke Courses. We have many clients asking us to design courses to meet their requirements, which we are very happy to do. We are keen to offer instruction to everyone and will go to great lengths to ensure our clients’ needs are met so that the course is as fun and rewarding as possible. We can tailor you a course ranging from 1 day to a week. We need a minimum of four riders per course (six is the ideal number) but can also cater for up to 12 riders on a one day “taster” course, to enable you to experience what we can offer.
Please do contact us to have an informal chat, and see if we can help you put something together.
Beginners’ Course. This course is suited to a wide variety of riders, from those who have never ridden at all, to those who have attempted cantering. Riding is conducted twice a day and in between there are lessons on stable management. By the end of the course all will have improved their skills, and leave us with a great deal more equine knowledge.
Improvers Course. Don’t be put off by the title! Every rider is an “improver”. This course is therefore suited to a wide variety of riders, from those who have ridden and are cantering, and know the basics of jumping to those who can jump a 2′ 6″ course or more. It introduces riders to the more technical elements of riding.
Rider Detail. Our courses have a minimum attendance of 4 and maximum of 6. We can take up to 12 riders one our One Day course.
