Warminster Saddle Club run a Pony Club Centre. This means that we operate Pony Club type activities for those children who do not own their own horse, but still wish to learn about all aspects of horsecare, compete and generally do more than have weekly lessons. To be able to come along, you must be a regular rider at Warminster Saddle Club and you must join the National Pony Club.
We run regular dismounted rallies on a Sunday morning, at which we help you to gain confidence around ponies and learn how to care for them. We work towards Achievement badges, which we sew on to our pony club sweatshirts. We cover all sorts of topics including poisonous plants, first aid and mucking out. Additionally, we take Progressive awards leading to Pony Club Efficiency Tests which are universally recognised.
At mounted rallies we take the riding part of the Efficiency Tests and riding Achievements badges, such as riding and road safety.
We organise fun competitions, such as mini one day events, which introduce the children to competing in a very informal way. It does involve a lot of running by parents though!
We run various educational/fun trips, including visits to Horseworld and Horse of the Year Show.
Our sessions are informal, educational and above all fun. Parents are always welcome to stay and help and learn.
