WSC aims to ensure the promotion of the efficiency of the Armed Forces of the Crown by the provision and support of equestrian courses, events and facilities for the efficiency and well-being of Service personnel.
The aim of all equitation courses run at WSC is to allow students to learn and improve riding and horse management skills and knowledge. Riding provides an excellent opportunity to improve core stability and physical fitness whilst allowing military personnel at all levels to demonstrate and practice the Army Core Values, in particular; Courage, Moral, Selfless Commitment and Respect for Others.
The Saddle Club aims to encourage equestrianism in the military and does so by offering a wide variety of our military courses that despite their name are also open to the public.
Accommodation is included in the price for Military Personnel, and the courses cater for all abilities:
Bespoke Courses. We have number of clients asking us to design courses to meet their requirements. This of course we can do. We are keen to offer instruction to everyone and will go to great lengths to ensure our clients’ needs are met so that the course is as fun and rewarding as possible. We can tailor you a course ranging from 1 day to a week. We need a minimum of four riders per course (six is the ideal number) but can also cater for upto 12 riders on a one day “taster” course, to enable you to experience what we can offer.

Beginners’ Course. This course is open to all including those that have never ridden a horse before to those who are able to walk and trot with a basic understanding of stable management. Riding is conducted twice a day and in between there are lessons on stable management. By the end of the course all will have improved their skills, and leave us with a great deal more equine knowledge. Qualification gained: BHS Progressive riding test level 1.
Improvers Course. This course is suited to those that have completed the beginners’ course or those that have attempted cantering and have a basic knowledge of tacking up and stable management. It introduces riders to the more technical elements of riding. Qualification gained: BHS Progressive riding test level 2 and above.
Rider Detail. We can accept riders up to 16 stones. Our courses have a minimum attendance of 4 and maximum of 6. We can take upto 12 riders one our One Day course.
